Our Services
Online Dyslexia Tutoring
Our online tutoring sessions include one-on-one instruction in an interactive online video format. The sessions are conducted with a live tutor in a video conference where the tutor shares their computer screen and the student controls the mouse. Our online tutoring learning activities include building words with tiles, working on sight words and reading fluency practice. We use Zoom.us for video conferencing services.
In our one-on-one sessions, we focus on the innate talents of our students. Each student is unique, with clearly identifiable strengths. Our goal is to pair each child with a tutor who is the best fit for their needs and learning schedule. Following intake, we determine which tutor will best be matched with your child.
An official diagnosis is not necessary to begin tutoring, we can help any age group learn to read.

Our tutor specialists are required to successfully complete an intense initial training process and regular ongoing training.
Our tutor specialists want to make a difference in children’s lives and have a passion for helping children become fluent readers. They are aware of the unique needs of struggling readers and help children build their self-confidence through the instructional process.
About the Tutoring Sessions
We use The Barton Reading and Spelling System, which is an Orton-Gillingham-based system. Orton-Gillingham is a multisensory approach that is considered highly effective for teaching students with dyslexia. This multisensory approach increases the ability to engage more areas of the brain so that a student sees, hears, says aloud, touches, and moves a word around all at the same time.
Sessions are 50 minutes and occur at least twice per week. Research has shown this level of frequency is necessary to help close the gap in academic achievement and to incorporate learning from tutoring sessions.
Students progress through an established sequence of reading and spelling concepts, moving from the most simple to the more complex.
We customize the pace of instruction to help students progress at their speed - as they can, but as slowly as they need.
Each student is tested periodically during the instructional process to ensure mastery of the concepts and materials learned. Ample opportunity for practice is provided for each student so that mastery is achieved for each concept. Mastery is critical for progression through the system.
