Our Services
Online Dyslexia Tutoring
Our online tutoring sessions include one-on-one instruction in an interactive online video format. The sessions are conducted with a live tutor in a video conference where the tutor shares their computer screen and the student controls the mouse. Our online tutoring learning activities include building words with tiles, working on sight words and reading fluency practice. We use Zoom.us for video conferencing services.
In our one-on-one sessions, we focus on the innate talents of our students. Each student is unique, with clearly identifiable strengths. Our goal is to pair each child with a tutor who is the best fit for their needs and learning schedule. Following intake, we determine which tutor will best be matched with your child.
An official diagnosis is not necessary to begin tutoring, we can help any age group learn to read.

Our tutor specialists are required to successfully complete an intense initial training process and regular ongoing training.
Our tutor specialists want to make a difference in children’s lives and have a passion for helping children become fluent readers. They are aware of the unique needs of struggling readers and help children build their self-confidence through the instructional process.
About the Tutoring Sessions
Our approach to tutoring utilizes the Barton Reading and Spelling System, an innovative program rooted in the principles of Orton-Gillingham methodology. Orton-Gillingham, renowned for its effectiveness in instructing dyslexic students, employs a multisensory technique. This multisensory structured language (MSL) approach engages multiple areas of the brain simultaneously, enabling students to visualize, hear, articulate, touch, and manipulate words.
Sessions are 50 minutes and occur at least twice per week. Research has shown this level of frequency is necessary to help bridge academic gaps and integrate learning from our tutoring sessions.
Students follow a structured progression of reading and spelling concepts, beginning with the fundamental and advancing to the more complex aspects.
We tailor the pace of instruction to help students progress at their speed - as they can, but as slowly as they need.
Each student is tested periodically during the instructional process to ensure mastery of the concepts and materials learned. Ample practice opportunities are provided to ensure each student attains proficiency in every concept. Mastery is critical for progression within the system.
